3th September 2012, Me and my friends landed at the frankfurt airport. The place was completely new to us. We did not know where to go? or what to do?
We all were very tired. We were totally blank about how to proceed. But our hearts knew that Ashok uncle would be there some were in that crowd at the airport to receive us.
We didn't recognize him at first, but after he introduced himself and took us to his house, I can not explain how at home I felt.
Eva aunty made delicious lunch for all of us. After lunch, Ashok uncle contacted all our parents assuring them of our safe journey and arrival. He and aunty showed us around the place to get us familiarized with the locality.
Since we have not allotted hostel rooms,Uncle and aunty welcomed us into their home for staying that day.

It was truly heart warming to see some one taking care of us like our parents.

Thank you very much Ashok uncle and Eva aunty for all the love and affection that you showed and providing for us just like our parents. I never felt alone in a place so far away from home.

I can't Thank you enough. Take care . We love you.

Dear Uncle and Aunty,

I was filled with zeal and confusion before coming to Germany. Zeal regarding exploring foreign land for the first time and confusion - as I had no clue about life in Germany also I knew almost no one there. But my confusion turned diminutive as soon as I received call from Uncle in India and on phone he said “ tu fikar mat kar main hoon yehan par, tu bas aaja” , it provided me the required quantum of solace which I was looking for. You people provided easy interface between us and Germany so as to make our stay smoother. I would like to thank Uncle and Aunty from bottom of my heart for display of their warm, friendly welcoming gesture not only to us but many students from India since years. It is also a way of serving country away from main land. Wish you both a lovely and healthy life ahead.
With lots of love and respect

Dear Uncle and Aunty,
It was my first time outside India. After arriving at Frankfurt Flughafen, I was extremely confused, worried, stressed out etc. Then it took us close to 8 hours to arrive in Karlsruhe. We were without food or drink.

We were late, we made you wait for the same 8 hours, but you welcomed us into your house with an open heart and my first sip of water in Germany was at your home.

This transition would have been "einfach schwer" without you. You introduced us to Germany. It's because of you that the 11 of us hanged out together. When you were away for 4-5 months, we hardly ever spent time together as a whole group.

I will miss you.

Dear Ashok Uncle and Eva Aunty

I never imagined how can one find a Home Away from Home, but you people made me understand how it feels like after the wonderful experience I had with you. I still cherish the in-numerous memories from the first day I arrived in Karlsruhe. The way you picked up from the Station, the long giggling chats over the Dining Table, the wonderful trips and of course the photo sessions and cooking sessions. You helped us in all way possible and that support actually made us more confident to deal with the new and the first foreign land of our life. I think I can go on and on, but I will stop here. I hope there are more people like you in this world, selfless and inviting. Wish you all the happiness and prosperity for the future ahead. Stay Happy and in Good Health!

Love
Bishal Goswami

With all the excitement and homework going on for coming to Karlsruhe, it wasn't really expected to meet an Indian-German family in Karlsruhe and have a home away from home. Ashok Uncle and Eva Aunty gave us a perfect feel of home, starting from Indian food to valuable guidance needed to live in a foreign country. My best wishes to to you both and to all the future students who will come to Karlsruhe.

I feel that life in Karlsruhe wouldnt have been this comfortable without Ashok Uncle and Eva Aunty. It was so good to be received by Uncle at the station after we landed in a totally new place or else we would have been totally lost. And the parties at their home will be my cherished memories. Even when they were in India , I could contact them for any help. Am going to miss them both the most when I leave Karlsruhe. I want to thank them for all their support during my stay in Germany.

Hello uncle and Aunty,
First thing I want to write here is that, today in party I forgot to say you something.
Today I was in hurry to catch the last bus from North campus to your place and I was asking one of my colleague to help me finish my job. My group leader was present there and he asked me ,why I was in so hurry and I just said that I have to go to your place . Then suddenly he said," Oh..Kunchewala..He is really a very nice fellow....Do not cry and catch the bus .....". He also asked my colleague to help me as soon as possible....

Thanks 2 you ..my job was done because of you and thanks to Aunty for that delicious cake .........

It all started with a Phone call in late November 2012 when I was sitting in a Mumbai local and was on my way back to Pune. The voice on the other side asked me to recognize. After some blind guesses, I was full of surprise when Kunchiwala uncle gave his identity. The memory lane back tracked and the flash back took me back to Karlsruhe Germany in 1999-2000, when I went there as a DAAD fellow. After couple of phone calls in next few months which resulted in me driving to Sanquelim with my wife Shashi and two wild kids, the winter abode of Kunchiwala uncle and aunty. The welcome was with a yummiest cake prepared by Aunty. The next 24 hours just went by eating fish and chit chatting about all the old days. It was still the same old Uncle and Aunty as I had seen them back in 2000, full of energy. The words have their own limitation of expression because they are digital and analog but I am sure everyone knows what I am talking about. Thanks again to Uncle and Aunty for all the things they have done for me and for umpteen number of students and other folks visiting Germany.

I would like to thank you Kunchiwala Uncle and Aunty for helping the students who come from abroad to Germany. I can not simply imagine my life in Germany without you guys. You have always remained besides all of us in ups and downs of our journey in Karlsruhe. You both supported us as if we are a part of your family. I always felt like home with you both. Love you Uncle and Aunty. :)

Dear Uncle and Aunty,

I would like to convey my sincere thanks for your thoughtfulness and help during my stay in KA. The time spent with both of you was exquisite and unforgettable treats for me. I remember every bit of fun I had during my stay with you. I am truly touched by your generosity, spirit, and willingness to get out of your way to help us, whether in terms of taking us to doctors or to cook for us. It was just what we needed but never expected! You always seem to know our need all the time. I am indeed grateful to you and aunty for treating me as a member of your family. Thanks can’t convey the gratitude, I feel for all those precious moments.
You have been great friends. We were indeed lucky to have you with us during our stay. Thank you again for always being there for us.
Reciprocating your kindness is not possible yet I like to assure you that you will always find me at your service. Just call me whenever needed.

Always keep smiling.

With lots of love and respect,

Bhawna:):)

Dear Uncle and Aunt,

My stay in Germany would not have been so pleasant, had I not have met you. It brings me immense pleasure in cherishing the time we have spent together and esp. the long conversations.

Celebrating birthdays and other festivals in a foreign land would have been very unlikely otherwise.

I appreciate the cause and your dedicated contribution towards it. I have quite clear memories of aunty taking me to dentist and also orthopaedician. I miss your delicious cakes and warm heart.

I am highly indebted by the help and concern you have showed throughout and would be more than happy, if I could be of any help to you.

The only thing one should take care of before coming to Karlsruhe, is to get to know you guys and I can vouch for a great time.

Lots of love and wishes for great health!

Nikhil

Dear Aunty and Uncle,

During our time, Kunchiwalas were so popular among the DAAD students and frankly speaking was an upperhand for those who were coming to Karlsruhe, as we already had somebody to take care of us in the foreign land.It was definitely a matter of pride for me that I was one among the fortunates. We had a wonderful time together which was even complemented by delicious food and lots of fun.
I really appreciate your work from the bottom of my heart and would like to join you in near future for your noble cause.
Wish you both a lovely and healthy life ahead.

With Love.....

Nilesha
